J Here

Lots of interesting stuff happening in my life. My day job at Budget Blinds is a little slow, mostly the lull before the storm as the company starts gearing up for it's annual convention (which will be crazy work for me). I've recently gotten to do a lot of original design work (mostly websites) that I've never gotten to do before for the company which is pretty fun.

Also busy freelancing. The timing is nice because Lauren and I are thinking about buying a house next year and the money I'm getting will put us @ the 10-20% down payment mark. There's also a chance of a much higher paying job with the agency I am working for, but they haven't made me an offer yet. I like my job @ BB so I win either way.

Lauren's job @ Prudential is going to come to an end soon. She's pretty upset at how her department (and her) are managed and how much they try to make her work overtime without paying her. Please be praying that she finds another position that she enjoys and is happy at.

From Don & Marilyn

Greetings from Fresno. The leaves are starting to turn and it's beautiful here. Just returned from a week with friends in Branson MO. Had a great time but it's always good to be home.

Don is the coordinator for Mennonite Disaster Service's RV program. Two projects are underway in Texas and we're hoping to start a third project in San Diego County. We spent 3 weeks in August in Mississippi at the MDS camp in Pass Christian. Actually we spent two weeks there, and one week in Columbus MS avoiding Hurricane Gustav. We had to move the vehicles at the camp to higher ground, board up all the windows (fortunately we had help!), pack all the office records and computers, and head north to Columbus. MDS has a warehouse there so we were able to stay with 3 other MDS people who also were evacuated from New Orleans and Diamond (south of N. Orleans). It was a productive week sorting supplies, building shelves in a new tool trailer and getting acquainted with other MDSers.

Our church hired a new youth pastor yesterday, a young man who was an intern at Lorna's church in Clovis. He knows Jeffrey. We're still without a senior pastor but "they" say we're close to getting someone.

Happy Belated Birthday Lauren!

The messages during the church service are very very serious. More so then usual and will be for the next 8 weeks on SINS.

So glad I didn't work at the Fair this year, only ran into one friend and others are all new people. Politics took over and we said no and will not work at the Fair. Enjoyed the fair on Senior day and again on Friday with the Brian Buller family. The girls entered several projects and received 1st on so many, I stopped counting. Julie entered something on Brandon too. What a talented family.

One lady got demoted from being on the computer on Sale Day where I work on Thursdays. So far, I'm still working side by side by the Auctioner and trying to figure out what number he is on........ so I will type in the correct one on the computer............ha.

From the Other Krause Haus

Like mom said, Lauren celebrated 25 years on Friday (Oct. 3rd). Lots of eating out this weekend; J & L are kinda tired of restaurants for a while!

Jerrol is working hard on some freelance web work and the company he's contracted with for this job is thinking about hiring him. They are primarily a video production company, but get many requests from clients for websites. The owner is a Christian and does a lot of work with Christian organizations like Wycliffe. Jerrol feels this is where God is calling him and he is excited about the level of business strategy, web work and new ideas he gets to propose. It's not in the bag yet, so pray for wisdom and God's will to be done.

Lauren is getting into letterpress and enjoying restoring a couple of presses. Holler if you'd like some hand-printed cards!
