From Don & Marilyn

Greetings from Fresno. The leaves are starting to turn and it's beautiful here. Just returned from a week with friends in Branson MO. Had a great time but it's always good to be home.

Don is the coordinator for Mennonite Disaster Service's RV program. Two projects are underway in Texas and we're hoping to start a third project in San Diego County. We spent 3 weeks in August in Mississippi at the MDS camp in Pass Christian. Actually we spent two weeks there, and one week in Columbus MS avoiding Hurricane Gustav. We had to move the vehicles at the camp to higher ground, board up all the windows (fortunately we had help!), pack all the office records and computers, and head north to Columbus. MDS has a warehouse there so we were able to stay with 3 other MDS people who also were evacuated from New Orleans and Diamond (south of N. Orleans). It was a productive week sorting supplies, building shelves in a new tool trailer and getting acquainted with other MDSers.

Our church hired a new youth pastor yesterday, a young man who was an intern at Lorna's church in Clovis. He knows Jeffrey. We're still without a senior pastor but "they" say we're close to getting someone.

Happy Belated Birthday Lauren!

Dad and Marilyn
