Covid 2020 (anyone else want to add a story here?)

What's changed for us in this season?

Everything off the calendar, dentist, hair appt, wedding, concerts, Easter, church gatherings, working sometimes in a tent, wearing masks at work, social distancing from hubby in the home and working hard to not fear giving Tim this virus. ( so that only lasted 3 weeks-we decided touch was necessary ) No time with grandchildren, roads less crowded, many businesses closed.

What has not changed for us.

Always safe, home to sleep, food to eat, friends and family who stay in contact, still working, still walking the dogie at the park.

Only spend a few shifts in the tent but have taken care of covid patients.

This is the Novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) Pandemic, declared March 11th, 2020.

Why, you ask, do I write this status?

One day it will show up in my memory feed, and it will be a yearly reminder that life is precious and not to take the things we dearly love for granted.

We have so much!

I don’t want to take for granted the little things when the pandemic ends.

Be thankful. Be grateful.

Be kind to each other - love one another - support everyone.

We are all one! ❤️

Government closes the border to all non-essential travel.

Fines are established for breaking the rules.

Stadiums and recreation facilities open up for the overflow of Covid-19 patients.

Press conferences daily from the President. Daily updates on new cases, recoveries, and deaths.

Government incentives to stay home.

Barely anyone on the roads. (Supposed to be, but still many cars on the road in the springs)

Gas price in Colorado $1.39

School cancelled

Self-distancing measures on the rise.

Tape on the floors at grocery stores and others to help distance shoppers (6ft) from each other.

Limited number of people inside stores, therefore, lineups outside the store doors.

Non-essential stores and businesses mandated closed.

Teacher, Admin., School with to keep education going from home. Homeschooling is a struggle trying to figure it out.

Parks, trails, entire cities closed.

Entire sports seasons cancelled.

Concerts, tours, festivals, entertainment events - cancelled.

Weddings, family celebrations, holiday gatherings - cancelled. Missing my cousins wedding.

No masses, churches are closed.

No gatherings of 50 or more, then 20 or more, now 5 or more.

Don't socialize with anyone outside of your home.

Children's outdoor play parks are closed.

We are to distance from each other.

Shortage of masks, gowns, gloves for our front-line workers.

Run out of real N95 masks, recycling surgical & N95 masks at work.

Elective surgeries canceled and many healthcare workers sitting on the sideline with being called off.

Shortage of ventilators for the critically ill.

Panic buying sets in and we have no toilet paper, no disinfecting supplies, no paper towel no laundry soap, no hand sanitizer.

Shelves were bare for a week and many items remained out of stock weeks following.

Manufacturers, distilleries and other businesses switch their lines to help make visors, masks, hand sanitizer and PPE.

2019 Solo Backpacking Trip

This trip had me in the wilderness for 5 days and 4 nights. 2 of those nights no one near me at all. The other 2 nights a few other backpackers shared the same mountain. I was aware of my slowness as other folks passed me on the tail but I took the slow and steady pace on the uphill climbs. I can say I had to face my fear of heights on the narrow granite ledge on the way up to clouds rest summit. It was accelerating to reach the top and take in the most amazing few. The delightful moments were the trail conversations with other hikers and enjoying the beautiful landscape. The challenging moments included the pesty mosquitoes, almost water filter malfunction and one splat face down in the ground. This trip the big decision was to leave the stove and tent behind so my backpack weight was 36 pounds. Still to much but the best i could do at reducing.

Trip highlights included reading a Dallas Willard book, helping a lost hiker on the trail and standing in awe after scrambling up the half dome cables. i became the photographer as hikers moved out on the diving board for the one of a kind picture. I finally decided I could be brave enough and ventured out on the ledge myself. My 35 mile left me feeling accomplished!

2018 Year End in Review

Sending a special greeting to friends and family this year. Hope to hear from you!

Our Christmas:

Tim has had a very promising year in possibilities with solar energy and design of the unnamed widget. We have lost count of how many years he has been CEO of Energx controls. (that means he is still his own boss)

He completed his annual pilgrimage to the Philippines to revisit deep dark Caverns and markings on coconut trees.

The hunt and story continues.

Char is still working full-time as charge nurse at Los Alamitos Emergency Department. Managing payroll and

schedules keep the days full.

Charis hosted our very first Thanksmas family Reunion in Colorado Springs and we welcomed Brinley to the clan.
Charis found a way to provide beds and food for the whole clan.

6 out of 7 grands at one time!!

From Charis and Dace:

I have the joy of raising 3 kids (Aidan 5, Nolan 3, & Brinley 10months), supportive wife to Dace, &
managing our household. I also working as a nurse in a growing hospital in a recovery room helping patients as
they wake up from surgery. Our family’s newest adventure this year was exploring more of Colorado by camping
from our RV.

From Lauren and Jerrol:

Jerrol is loving his work as the principle user interface engineer at ntersol, an enterprise level business
solutions software company. Lauren is an associate marriage and family therapist at Soul Restoration Project and
homeschooling their son, Ellison, 5/kindergarten, and daughter, Sianna, 8/2nd grade. Ellison’s favorite
subject is math and Sianna enjoys learning Latin and history. The highlight of their year was a Caribbean Disney
Cruise in May!

Our vacation of recharging with Rving through Colorado, hiking and biking, and blessed family time with
children and grandchildren keeps our hearts full. We celebrated our 40th anniversary!
