The Wall

Thinking outloud about walls. In the Bible, Joshua and the people of Israel wanted the walls of Jericho to fall down. Nehemiah wanted the people of Israel to build a wall. So thinking about walls, I concluded that I might find a matching experience in my own life. So, in Costa Rica I found myself helping a small church build a wall. I had the most humble job of carrying the blocks and placing them on the rebar poles.

A few weeks ago, it was time for the wall in our living room to come down and make a great room for our great family that's growing and create a space for Bible study meetings.

Sometimes the things that happen to us help teach us or reveal deeper truths.  So this wall has a very special story. Most know it was built to create a bedroom, a special place for Bryant so he didn't have to share a room with his siblings. The wall served its purpose and gave Bryant a place of his own. However, this wall is no longer needed.
As I began to knock the wall down, I began to wonder if in my heart I have any walls that need to be torn out.
I'm sure you might be with me on this one. Sometimes there is a mess in our heart that needs to go so we can make room for what God might want to place there. If you have a story to share, send it to me and I will add it here.
